My love affair with Family History research began over 30 years ago when I took maternity leave from the Commonwealth Bank for the birth of my first child. My mother had started some family research and I thought it would be something I could do to keep the brain cells ticking over whilst on leave. I soon became hooked, and eagerly waited for the postman to arrive when I was expecting a certificate from the Registry, or a letter from a relative. As time permitted over the next few years (amidst work and raising a young family) I learned how to research immigration records, convict records, newspapers and whatever else I could get my hands on to discover more about my ancestors.

My third and last child was born in 1992, and I gave up the bank for good. I was able to devote more time to research, and when the opportunity arose, became one of the NSW Registry’s first Approved Transcription Agents in 1995.

Since then I have transcribed hundreds of thousands of records, spoken at seminars and meetings all over NSW and interstate, and helped thousands of people with their research. It is always such a pleasure to meet you all at open days and hear your stories.

I continue to supply transcriptions through NSW Family History Transcriptions Pty Ltd and GeniCert (via the Ancestry website).

On this site I hope to share some of the things I’ve learned over the years – hopefully some of it will help you in your own research quest!

Happy hunting!

      Hello Frances
Unfortunately we don’t offer a service for these English Records. We only cover official BDM certificates after 1st July 1937. The numbers you refer to are LDS Film numbers, and you will be able to order the film through an LDS Family History Centre. There is one in 5 Nalya Close Charlestown, phone 4942-3006. Or you can order on-line, and have the film sent to the most suitable library or centre near you. This is the link: https://familysearch.org/films/
      Cheers, Marilyn

I was hoping you were able to find transcriptions for my great grandmother her birth, marriage and death. Her birth was 1902 Olive Agnes Williams Reg number 17192. to Marriage 1917 at Dunedoo Oliver Sydney Moulds, reg no 11493 and Death 1964 Reg 25729. Could you please send me details if you can do these transcripts and what the cost would be. Thank you
